Setting up an IRC client for the first time can be an intimidating task to new users, including myself when I first did it! To make it easier for new users to get set up on the site, I’m proud to announce TripChat package.

This is a moderation of HexChat (www.hexchat.org), a free open-source chat client based on the popular X-Chat (www.xchat.org). All props, donations and karma go to those fine fellows. The only changes to HexChat is the server information, some settings and the colors.

The easiest way to get started is to download the package, unzip it and run the TripChatClient application.

On first connection it will automatically connect you to the server and channels using default nicknames.

To personalize your experience: On the menu bar click HexChat > Network List… (CTRL+S). Then change your nickname to what you want it to be.

If you have registered with Snoonet you may automatically log in by going to the above location (CTRL+S) > Edit… From there you put your password into the “Nickserv Password” box.

That’s it! You’re all set up. Please PLEASE do me a favor and send feedback on the network to Teknos@TripSit.Me

All types of feedback are appreciated, nay, NEEDED to make this client work well. Every comment counts.

If you’re a power user and either already have HexChat or want to use a non-roaming installation you can download the HexChat client from their website and use the following files to configure it for you:
