Psychedelics used to Fight Addiction

A study recently completed at the University of New Mexico has shown that psychedelic drugs such as psilocybin and LSD have promise in the treatment of alcoholism and other forms of addiction. The study showed, that while there was a large range of resulting effects, conditions of addicts had improved overall.

This shows a resurgence of the type of medical research undertaken on psychedelics during the 50/60s, which has since been marred by public and institutional stigma, and comes as part of a neo-slew of parallel investigations into the potentially positive effects of psychedelic drugs.
