Response to media’s accusations

There have been a lot of accusations and baseless cames coming from certain news outlets. While we appreciate the attention we need to do away with some myths.

“Caters to drug users only”

This is false, we’ve had numerous people whom have come in just to say hi or talk about life issues. Drugs are NOT a requirement for needing a friend.

“How to mix drugs to find the ultimate out of body experience”

This is just plainly made up and misleading journalism, for shame Jaclyn. For one we do not condone mixing substances, and every one of our admins will agree with your ‘Dr.’ Baunoch that its a dangerous game and there are way too many variables to look at. For two: there is no such thing as the perfect mixture for an out of body experience. You don’t just take a substance and have an OBE.

“It’s just plain dangerous”

Would you rather have your son/daughter or relative huff paint in a car and die? Or talk to someone about it and be told that it’s not a good idea? They certainly aren’t going to go to a hospital to ask. There is a better chance that the people on our site are going to alter their perspective in some way. If left to their own devices, they will most likely make ignorant decisions. Our goal is to STOP the danger by giving a place for people to ask “should I do this?” Most of the time we say no.

“There’s no such thing as a safe trip/drugs can’t be used safely”

This man has never done MDMA or LSD. The media wants viewers to believe that drugs are all dangerous, at any amount, with hallucinations and violence. Most of the time people do nothing but enjoy themselves while tripping. Has ABC ever done a story of someone doing PCP and meditating? I think not, that is not good sensational news. You want face-eating zombies and other violent reactions which we don’t appreciate in any context. There are more deaths from prescription drugs than illegal ones. Please refer to this link http://bigstory.ap.org/article/drug-overdose-deaths-11th-consecutive-year

“In 2010, the CDC reported, there were 38,329 drug overdose deaths nationwide. Medicines, mostly prescription drugs, were involved in nearly 60 percent of overdose deaths that year, overshadowing deaths from illicit narcotics.”

Put that in your pipe and smoke it. 🙂

“What’s safe to mix, what’s not safe to mix, I think it’s all unsafe, period”

This “Dr.” (doubting his credentials at this point) has never smoked marijauna, a harmless substance that is legal in a couple states and countries around the world. He’s also never looked into neurotoxicity reports of MDMA. Also, name one person who has overdosed on LSD?

“Only allow people who are in fear of being charged with a crime.”

This is plain not true and just made up (shame again Jaclyn!). ANYONE can join the website, it’s not just for drug users. It’s for spirituality, music, friendship, a supportive community and many other things.

“There’s a 24 hour hotline that can help ANYBODY through ANY situation”

That is not true. We have an active community and someone who is willing to talk at all times, but we do not support “ANY situation.” We do not condone dangerous combos, high doses, suicidal or psychotic behavior.

“Someone having a bad trip needs to go directly to the hospital”

There’s a huge difference between bad trip and a psychotic episode. A bad trip consists of anxiety, looping thoughts or just negative feelings you can’t shake. We can help with those. We CAN’T help with suicidal intentions, dangerous behavior, disregard for safety or psychotic breaks. Yes, we agree that people in those situations need professional help. We have banned people from the site who did not comply, to stop ‘enabling’ their behavior.

“Tried to reach out, haven’t heard back”

Jaclyn, you sent us an email with a fake phone number and didn’t respond to ANY of our emails. We assumed you were fake. Please do a bit more investigating before saying we’re not available for comment. We’ve been watching the news reports and have already made a press release.
